Welcome back to week #138 and it is time for me Mia to host again.

This week I chose Happy Holidays as our topic. Thought it would suit everyone hopefully. Since I have some very busy days coming up, and still slaving away in Santa's workshop, I'm posting this early as I guess the same goes for must of us.. Christmas means the joy of giving, good eating, and having fun catching up with family and friends but first of all the remebrance of our True Self represented
by the birth of Christ..

Greetings from a spring like NZ and what could be more suitable for spring

nesting above our front door and the wild goats are roaming in pairs in the
woods lol...

Hi there all,

Mia here and welcom to this weekend's theme. I thought we would do something a bit different this time.
We did this in another group recently and it was great fun!
So the theme will be "The Seven Deadly Sins" and you have the choice to depict any one of the 7 sins that you feel will suit.

The Seven Sins are: Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Lust and
Pride. So you have a few to choose from. Here below is my example of ....

Images & Words #101- Photographer/Photography

Hi there all, Mia here again to annoy you he he he... First of all I'd like to apologize for
not getting a chance to take part in the 100th celebration, sounds like everyone had
a super time!

This week I thought we'd try the theme "Photographer/Photography" and with that I mean
anything that depicts that. My example here below is of an innocent photographer totally
unaware of being watched by the Taniwha monster just waiting to pounce on him!!!  IIIIIIHHHH!!!
Typical of us photographers isn't it, we are so intent on our subjects, we don't see anything else lol..

Taniwha are water spirits of Maori legend. They may live in rivers, lakes or the sea, and can take many forms; logs, eels, reptiles or whales. They are often regarded by local people as guardians of that stretch of water, but some are evil monsters.

Images & Words #86- Favorite I&W Theme

Welcome to Images & Words for Christmas Week, Mia here.

I'm sorry I haven't been around
for the last couple of times as way too busy here with another house shift and
celebrating Xmas with friends and family. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you a Happy 2011. On behalf of the admins we thank you for your participation in 2010 and it was a joy and privilege to share with you all.

 For this weekend's theme I had a chat
with Milli and she suggested we do your "Favorite I&W theme for 2010." So you
look back over the year and pick the theme you loved the most and then choose
a new image for it. Milli also offered to do an album or a slide show from your entries, so please let us know if you don't want your image to be part of that. Thanks Milli! You can see the old I&W posts by clicking on the blog roll on the Home page.

I've picked Joel's theme for week #65 "Antiques and All Things Old", as I love
photographing old cars and things, but never got the chance to post to this one.

Images & Words #81- PRETTY UGLY

Hi Images & Word Friends,

Mia here and I'll be your hostess this week.  I'm choosing the theme "Pretty Ugly" this time
and with that I mean an image/subject that is so ugly it's pretty, the other
way round or maybe just plain ol' ugly (or just pretty)  lol... Here is mine, a picture I took of a big Maori wood carving sitting in the
gardens of a historic house called Couldrey House in Wenderholm Park,
 North of Auckland:

I feel this carving is both ugly and beautiful at the same time lol. Here are some
facts on these types of carvings:

Pou whenua are carved posts placed strategically on the land to acknowledge and represent the relationship between Tāngata Whenua (the people of the land), their ancestors and their environment or tūrangawaewae (place of standing).

In short, they mark the ancestral and contemporary associations between the people (tāngata) and the land (whenua), and as such are very significant to both Māori and their contribution to New Zealand's cultural heritage and identity.

Images & Words #77-HOMAGE

Hi there all Images & Words friends!

 Mia here this time and I have chosen the
theme "HOMAGE" for this week. (deference, respect - a courteous expression (by word or deed) of esteem or regard; )

So I'm paying homage to all cows with this image. Without cows we would have no milk, youghurt, cheese, cream etc etc. Some of them don't seem to lead very happy lives, the one in my image sure has, but doesn't look like it lol..

My picture consists of four layers, one of a country landscape, another of a picture of our neighbour's cow, two layers of texture and then the text.

All in all it's just another
 brick in the wall

So, please show me whatever you want to honor or pay homage to and have fun with it, that's the most important... Can't wait to see what you've got!

How to Post a Good Sized Picture in a Blog

As some of you might not have seen this, we agreed that I post these tips again as a separate blog:

Some tips to post a "larger" photo in a blog:

There are several options, but these are the ones I use:

Uploading to Flickr or Photobucket, then copying and pasting the HTML code from there. You can choose
the size you want, but 800 x 800 or Large usually gets you a good size. You can also change the size in the HTML code to whatever you want, as long as you keep the proportions of course. You just adjust the size figures..

Also what I've started doing lately is to post from my Multiply Album, but instead of using the
share code I click up to the "Slide-show" choose a suitable size there (usually 600x600) and then just copy and paste the photo itself to the blog. Some programs will let you "drag" and "drop", my Mac won't, and also dragging and dropping means you have to have two windows open..

Often the "share code" doesn't give me a big enough photo for my taste (so then I use the "slide show option"),  but usually it's sufficient, so you don't need to click it up to see..

Remember when you use a HTML code to tick in the "Edit HTML" box up to the right in your compose blog page,
or your photo won't come up in the blog...

Most photo sites and groups have guide lines
for posting similar to the following example:

Max size: 800 pixels wide and/or no more than 700 pixels tall.
Min size: 640 pixels wide and/or no more that 700 pixels tall.
Panos only: No more than 950 pixels wide.

Another way of doing it is this:


One simple method for posting a high-res image from your computer to your Multiply blog page begins with posting an image through the blog edit window. I usually set the access to individual people and untic "send to the Multiply Inbox" until I finish this process. Just follow these steps:
    1.    Open a blog edit window by selecting "Post" and then selecting "Blog."
    2.    Click on "Insert Images."
    3.    Select the option to add an image from "Your Computer."
    4.    Locate the image on your computer, select the file and click "open."
    5.    A screen will appear that allows you to align your picture. Choose left, center or right.
    6.    Now the image will appear in your blog edit window. "Save and publish" to exit the window. After you publish the blog you should see a small image similar to the image below.



Click on the picture to access the high-res image.
    1.    Right-click on the high-res image and select "copy" from the drop-down menu.
    2.    Use the "back" function in the upper left corner of the page to go back to the previous page.
    3.    Select "edit" to reopen your blog edit window and paste the high-res image into the window (right-click and select "paste" from the drop-down menu.)
Click on the image (8 small boxes should appear around the image,) then use the "justification" feature in the blog edit window to align the new image.
Add any text you want to your blog entry.
You are ready to publish but first select the "access" and tic "send to the Multiply Inbox." Use "Preview and Spell Check" to view your finished product, then publish. After publishing go to your blog entry to see if you are satisfied with the results. If not make adjustments.

Hi Friends,

Mia here. As some of you might have noticed I'm back on line again and this week
I've chosen the theme "Fresh" for you to chew on lol... So anything that fits that
word is great with me.. This is a photo I took of one of my favorite subjects:
Water Lilies. I think they always look so fresh and colorful growing in the water...

There's been a couple of discussions around the rules, so please remember that the photo should be your own, not off the Internet and also if possible, post the photo large enough so nobody has to click it up if they don't want to take that extra time. If you have any problems with that, or anything else, please contact me or another admin.  We are here to help and would like
to encourage you all to have a go and get creative and most important,
to have fun!!!

I've chosen the theme of CLOUD 9, which means that you can enter a post
