Images & Words - Wish You Were Here - #69

Howdy all, Vic here.  A few weeks ago Mia had no internet access and Joel offered me a guest host position, I accepted.  As grace would have it, Amy had a challenge prepared and offered to post it, leaving me her spot this week.  I am honored and thrilled to be here. Thank you.

We've all had experiences  that best be shared with a specific, non-present person.  The band struck a song and our perfect partner for the floor was absent, one of our senses was ignited and the only one who could relate was unavailable, the hand that could comfort was nowhere near.  What's made you whisper to someone somewhere else, "I wish you were here"?

Again, thanks for having me..

The Rules:

Each week we will post an original photo with words on it. The idea behind this group is to expand our minds through our photography.

Photos must be your own, but the words can be someone else's as long as credit is given after the words.

Your post can either be serious, or if you'd like comical, but never obscene .

Posts can either have one word on them, quotes, or full poems ... Your choice.

All posts are to be done on your own site in a blog form with a link back to it being left here.

New topics will be posted on Sundays.

Posts can be made through Saturday.

One post per person only please.

I will hopefully be able to reply to all your entries this evening. As it is now I get thrown out anytime to post anything other than what I just posted.

  15. This was staged, Mia. I brought Jane along wanting a human element somewhere in the photo to break the harsh military lines. I'd not intended her in the foreground so much as standing somewhere in the distance. As we moved through the memorial site and came to the tree, I tried this shot. We broke 100 degrees this day, she was actually wiping sweat from her eyes.

  16. My favorite Floyd is probably 'I need a dirty woman'. I could have had fun shooting for it but something says it would be inappropriate as a theme. Thanks for your guidance here Joel, and the opportunity.

  17. That is a very convincing staged shot Vic, and sometimes sweat equals tears lol...

  18. Welcome Sir Vic.
A difficult theme maybe for some Vic.
I applaud your photo and your meaningful words.
The song Wish You were Here remains a classic of Pink Floyd's and a favourite of mine.
My effort for the week is here.

  19. Not an easy topic, but a beautiful one. Your picture is exquisite. The verse with it most fitting.

  20. I hope after considering it you find it not as difficult as it first seems. We take photos of things we want to share, many of which we'd like to share in person with someone. Can be as simple as a sunset or as common as a bloom. I look forward to what you come up with.

  25. This has been a great way to spend a Sunday. Don't tell anyone but of all the groups I belong to this is by far my favorite. Coming to the computer ever few hours and discovering some one's interpretation of my theme has been grand. I guess I set a bit of a somber tone with my own entry and I saw some moving renditions. There's also been some hope, humor and a bit of romance. I look forward to seeing more as the week moves on. You guys are da bomb!

  27. oi it doesn't say here that music is not allowed. yay!

    ReplyDelete
  28. no it doesn't...but your page is a train wreck....

    ReplyDelete
  29. as far as i'm concerned, the music does not autoplay.

    ReplyDelete
  30. have to scan left and right to view anything.....

    ReplyDelete
  31. not my fault your connection is slow.

    ReplyDelete
  32. my connection is super fast...your page is split

    ReplyDelete
  33. I viewed your page fine at home using firefox, here at work, with IE, i also have to scroll it to view. I"m guessing your theme was designed on firefox and isn't completely IE friendly.

Dana, what server are you using to view?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Um, it's just because her pic's a little big and stretches the page a little.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'd rather have to scroll a little to see the whole thing than to have the right rail stuff covering it up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have my choice of three...this morning I am on Safari...everything looks good ..the page is really wide...and her's is the only one I have ever seen this happen on

    ReplyDelete
  37. All worked fine for my viewing but we must all remember the variations that are used on the blogs and the differences they can make to the page view.

    ReplyDelete
  38. yep firefox. and my page isn't windows 98 friendly either.

    ReplyDelete
  39. people still use that?....that went out with 40g harddrives

    ReplyDelete
  40. Really a great post because this theme deserve it!
