Images & Words No 75 # Special Edition for 10/10/10

Welcome All members of Images & Words.

Today is the day and an auspicious day at that, because the number 10 appears in triplicate on our calenders. We can make the ten resound even further in tens if we also add the times of 10am or 10pm.

Early on in the week I set a challenge to take a photo for this event at 10am or 10pm and if that was not possible, then at anytime on the tenth showing us all, where you are and what you are doing.

I also asked for time date stamp on the photo if it is possible with your camera settings. Try  as I did to get my camera to do this it decided otherwise when my photos were taken.

So I have written my date onto my photo which you may feel free to do.

Let's see how many 10/10/10s we can put together this week because as a very special treat Joel will be using all the photos from the various posts in another exclusive I&W video.

If you do not approve of your photo being included please let us know in the comment section of your post. ie Photo Not to Be Copied. Otherwise we will copy it and include it in the video.

My Photo is Below and I have purposely made it a larger image this week.

On a magnificent day here in sunny South Aus it was to the local beach where we ventured this morning. Perfect conditions for a few beach happy snaps and I have made my contribution to this weeks theme.

It will be your turn now to share your Auspicious 10/10/10 moment too with us all and don't forget to add a quote about time to your Image.

Have Fun.

Cheers from Milli

The Rules:

Each week we will post an original photo with words on it. The idea behind this group is to expand our minds through our photography.

Photos must be your own, but the words can be someone else's as long as credit is given after the words.

Your post can either be serious, or if you'd like comical, but never obscene .

Posts can either have one word on them, quotes, or full poems ... Your choice.

All posts are to be done on your own site in a blog form with a link back to it being left here.

New topics will be posted on Sundays.

Posts can be made through Saturday.

One post per person only please.

Special Announcement

To All Members who submitted a post for this Auspicious Date, I have compiled a small photoshow for the group. If you still wish to post but have not done so, leave your link and I will edit your I&W into our Wonderful combined effort.

Well Done to All.

  2. Wonderful pic! Love that you have written the date in the sand. Beautiful words.

Here is mine, to the tune of 12 days of Christmas: http://andrewhanson.multiply.com/journal/item/72/IAW_LXV_-_the_10th_of_October_2010._At_10.10am

  3. Lovely photo - We certainly don't get sun that early in the morning at the moment. More dismal and grey. I suppose according to where you are on this planet 10.00 am is now or later. After trying for an hour, I still couldn't get the time on my photo, so I did it manually with text. Early in the morning I rarely breath outside air, and on Sunday definitely not. So here we are in a place somewhere in a small village called Feldbrunnen in a country called Switzerland.

  8. I tried to place this post in for 10/10/10 Mia but of course it probably stuffed up with time zones. Never mind, mine is as it was taken here this morning at the beach and I can tell you it was beautiful there.
    Looking forward to yours too.

  10. Hot dang, my camera won't accept the download cord all of a sudden. I'm screwed! Those little pins in the camera are out of whack it looks like...
Can't believe this is happening right now.... Does anyone know if I can
    use the memory card somehow?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I can slot my memory card straight into my laptop. Not sure if you can do same or not Mia...but I am sure someone can help you here soon.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I know what you mean Joel I am tempted on the 10pm one as well. It is now 8.37pm here in Adelaide. This is fun.

    ReplyDelete
  13. How about using it in one of your other cameras. I have done that before or you can buy a card reader they are under 20.00 at most electronic stores.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Geez you'll hit both of yours before I get to 1. I always knew you Aussies were ahead of us.

    ReplyDelete
  15. What a gorgeous shot ... Oh to be on the beach again .... looks heavenly .... Nothing but heavy skies this end of the world.

Okay mine is up ... its was taken about a month ago .... but it definitely shows the number 10 to me ~smile~

  16. ROFLOL..I see you are now learning Joel LOL. Ahead we are.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks Lynne and hope you get a bit of sun today.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thanks Joel, I'll check up on that. Might be easier than having the digital terminal on the camera repaired...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Excellent idea, Milli! Excellent entry yours is! I could not take one photo at 10:00am (Lisbon local time) as I was still sleeping... Will be back later..

    ReplyDelete
  20. what slot have u got for that Milli? I have looked in my Mac manual but doesn't seem that there is a slot for it?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have a slot in mine which I mostly use with the memory card, but my husband doesn't have one on his lap top and has spcial attachment that he bought for his memory card. It is the same with the mobile, I can put my card into my laptop at the side and hubby cannot. Sometimes you might find the slot at the side of the screen. Not all computers have this I know. Otherwise you have to do it with the special connecting cable that you get with your camera.I use both according to which camera I am using.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I use a Dell inspiron and it has the slot in the front centre of the laptop, however you may not have a slot and as Joel recommended a card reader will be your next best idea. They plug into a port on most pc's or laptops and they can read different cards straight to your pc. Alternately does your printer read cards and can you upload from your printer or scan from your printer to your pc?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I seem to only have an express card slot and although I've googled til I'm blue in the face can't work
out what it's for, I mean if it can take an SD card, it looks too big for that.. I think it has now been replaced with an SD card slot in the newest Macs
    I don't have a printer Milli..

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks Pat, yes I've been using that cable til now when the digi slot on my camera stopped working and I now can't get the cable in. I will have to see if my camera can be fixed or buy a card reader it looks like...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Aww Mia it seems a trip to town for a card reader will be in order. Or have the photo printed and then go to the library and try scanning it there and uploading it. 10/10/10 is not quite with out it's glitches it seems.
Otherwise can you upload photos from your phone? Try taking a photo with the phone and upload to facebook then bring it across here?

    ReplyDelete
  26. love your shot milli will have to wit till 10am but then will post

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thanks Milli, not sure how to transfer photos from my phone, but never mind, it's now the 11th here lol..
I have the photo in my camera from 10 past 10 on the 10th, so will just post it later in the week hopefully when I got this sorted....

  37. A thought just crossed my head - Am I the only one here, perhaps there might be a couple more, that can remember 05.05.55 - I was at primary school 9 years old and the teacher told us what a memorable date it was at the time.

  43. LOL, I wasn't even a gleam in my parents eyes! hahaha I think the earliest 'special date' I can remember is 7/7/77 I would have been 5 years old. Too bad I don't remember that date, since 7 is my favorite number, and I'm not likely to see the next all sevens. although I do remember 07/07/07!

    ReplyDelete
