Images and Words week 93: Any Kind of Love

Greetings from Amy and welcome to a special Valentine's Day edition of Images and Words!  Last year's Valentine's Day weekend was my first ever time hostessing Images and Words, so this also my one year anniversary as a host of this group!  Last year I chose the theme of "Love and Romance" thinking that it would be easy to find romantic quotes and match them to images of flowers or candles or anything else like that, but it turns out that that's kind of a sore subject for a lot of people.  So this year my theme is "Any Kind of Love."  You can choose Romantic love or you can choose friendship love, or parent and child, or love for your car, any kind of love that you wish!  I remain a hopeless Romantic so I chose "Affectionate Love."

I photographed this lion couple at Zoo Boise.  The lioness was looking at the children through the glass when the lion approached her, they play fought for a moment and then nuzzled affectionately.  Aren't they sweet?

I'd like to give a quick apology that I haven't been very much the past few weeks.  Since Christmas everyone in my family has been either injured or sick, and at times both!  And of course it's up to me to take care of the family.  Everyone seems healthy now, so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

The Rules:

Each week we will post an original photo with words on it. The idea behind this group is to expand our minds through our photography.

Photos must be your own, but the words can be someone else's as long as credit is given after the words.

Your post can either be serious, or if you'd like comical, but never obscene .

Posts can either have one word on them, quotes, or full poems ... Your choice.

All posts are to be done on your own site in a blog form with a link back to it being left here.

New topics will be posted on Sundays.

Posts can be made through Saturday.

One post per person only please.

  3. Awww, I was looking forward to mush! Yes of course love for a favorite season counts! Any kind of love :-).

I must say that I really am hoping that somebody will do love for a car. Queen has a really great song, "I'm in love with my car" and I would truly love to see that idea this week :-)

  9. Love is always in the air we just have to make the most of it when we can.
The Love, Multi theme is a great idea, because love falls into so many different categories Amy
as your most delightful capture and quote attest to, most adorably here.

  12. I love your Lion couple Mia. They are so sweet, though it made me sad to think they are in a zoo and not free on the savannah. Full of cold and flu, so brain is mushy, might be back tomorrow with something. Nice theme for Valentine's day...............

  15. Having been to your wonderful continent and seeing lions in the wild for myself I share your sadness. However the lion in this photo appears to be quite elderly and seems to have some sort of facial damage (which can't be seen in this photo because they're nuzzling) so if he had lived in the wild he would probably be dead by now. I have a lot of concerns about zoos but I take the lead from the great Jane Goodall (whose son, Grub, was a good friend of mine in the first grade) that nowadays zoos provide a vital function of species preservation but we must make sure that the animals are treated well in captivity with plenty of room and stimulation. The lions here seemed to have a lot room (though not as much as a totally open savanna, or course) and were provided with stimulation such a toys and even the children who were watching the lions.

I hope you will feel better soon. I'm looking forward to your I&W.

  16. Not being a big fan of Valentine's Day, I decided to go with a little humor this week! Obsessiveness is a type of love, right??

  17. I do agree on that Amy and I also used to take my children to the Zoo when they were younger an outing they still all enjoy and often do with their friends, taking a picnic with.
    Thank you for your wishes.

  20. I posted this yesterday on my site for everyone but not here. I didn't have time to visit anyone but my contacts yesterday. That would make me feel like 2 inches tall to post here and not get around. So tonight I'm posting my link to this weeks challenge, hoping to visit those outside my friends, contacts that make an effort to be part of the group.
