Welcome To I&W 132 ~ 11/11/11 ~ or Your Choice.

Welcome to our special 11/11/11 Images and Words Post.
For Those of You who managed to take a photo on this day please feel free to post your photo and remarks about where the photo was taken in your
11/11/11
An Unusual Sequence of Numbers Post.
For those of you who could not take a photo on friday please feel free to choose another photo and make a free choice Images & Words post for this week.
My photo was taken at the side of the road in the beautiful Southern Vales town of McLaren Vale South Australia.
I was in the historic township to take a photo at 11am for our Remembrance Day after which I drove towards home and stopped for my next photo opportunity at this very pretty vineyard where the glorious red roses make a buffer for the vines at this vineyard just out of town.
I look forward to visiting your posts and if you give me permission I will gather up all of your photos and make something special with them for the group.
I need to clarify something else.
As you can see it was a lovely Spring day here on the 11th of the 11th 2011. I realise that where you would have been could have been quite a different scenario bth weather wise and location. I think this is what makes a universal photo shoot like this one so very exciting.
Italian 11 = undici -  Spanish 11 = once - French 11 = onze - German 11 = elf -
Portueguese 11 = onze .
Some Number 11 Facts.

The Eleven Plus was an English school selection examination taken by 11 year old children which was abolished in most areas with the introduction of comprehensive schools. It is still fondly remembered by taxi drivers and education ministers.
Elevenses is a mid-morning refreshment such as tea and biscuits taken around 11am.
Soccer, cricket, American football and field hockey are all played with teams of 11 players on the field.
The sun spot cycle repeats about every 11 years. Sun spots are dark spots on the surface of the sun. They occur more often during the active phase of the sun spot cycle. The spots have intense magnetic fields which are associated with magnetic storms on earth. Radio reception on earth is also affected by the sun spot cycle.
11 is the fourth number that stays the same when written upside down. The first three are 0, 1 and 8. There are three more between 11 and 100.
Have Fun and Cheers - Milli 11

The Rules:

Each week we will post an original photo with words on it. The idea behind this group is to expand our minds through our photography.

Photos must be your own, but the words can be someone else's as long as credit is given after the words.

Your post can either be serious, or if you'd like comical, but never obscene .

Posts can either have one word on them, quotes, or full poems ... Your choice.

All posts are to be done on your own site in a blog form with a link back to it being left here.

New topics will be posted on Sundays.

Posts can be made through Saturday.

One post per person only please.

You are encouraged to open your post up for other members of Images & Words  to view and comment upon if they wish.

  7. Lovely Roses, Milli! It was very cold and windy here in NY, and could barely stand to take my gloves off long enough to shoot the photo at 11:11 am on the 11th. However, I was soon thawing out over a hot cup of tea and very glad I was able to participate this year.

  14. Mine is a little off-topic and has to be a "Your Choice" kind of post since I didn't have time to take any photos on the 11th. Nice discourse on the number. You forgot to mention that it is a prime.

  19. I really must protest. It is getting to the point where about 1 in 5 of respondents (not just on this group, but all groups) keep their doors locked. Excuse me, but if it's privacy you want, why do you join groups? The point of a group is to share, and that is something you cannot do if your door is locked. To add insult to injury, some of these people then come to my page and leave messages. This needs to stop. Decide which side of the fence you're on - the private side or the friendly side.

  20. Fabulous Mia I look forward to viewing your post.

  21. As a sharing group of I&W participants it is encouraged that all I&W posts can be viewed and commented upon by other members of the group. You do not have to open up your whole blog for this to be so. All you need to do is open up your I&W post to either friends of friends or better still public. After all is said and done sharing our creative side is what most of us love to do on I&W the most. Commenting on an I&W post is entirely your own choice.
