Images and Words Week 45: Inspirational/Motivational

Greetings!  Amy here hostessing again, and the theme I've chosen is "Inspirational/Motivational".  Before Joel started this group we used to make comments on each other's photos like, "Wow!  That would look great with a quote on it hanging in a dentist's office!" Hehehe.  I've made two for previous entries, but here's a new one for this week:

white rainbow with Bruce Lee quote

I took this photo a little over a year ago while photographing a freezing fog out in the desert.  The fog lifted for brief moment and I saw this strange but beautiful white rainbow hanging low in the sky.  I believe the white rainbow was caused by sunlight reflecting (not refracting) off of ice crystals remaining in the air where the freezing fog had been moments earlier.  It seems to be a rare phenomenon because I tried to research it and couldn't find anything on it--the closest I could find is a parhelion and this is obviously not a parhelion because it occurred opposite the sun rather than around or next to the sun, and it was created low in the atmosphere (just above the roadway) rather than high up (around 7000 m/23,000 ft).  This quote by the wonderful Bruce Lee made me think of this photo because to capture it I had to be a little bit astute and quick on the draw.

So, here's your chance to make a Motivational or Inspirational poster using one of your own photos!  Make one to motivate or inspire yourself, or someone else, or simply share with us what motivates/inspires you!  Or you can even poke fun at the theme and make a joke poster that's humorous.  Has anyone else seen the Star Trek motivational posters?  They are hilarious!  Just don't make it lewd cuz that's against the rules.  BTW here are the rules:

Each week we will post an original photo with words on it. The idea behind this group is to expand our minds through our photography.

Photos must be your own, but the words can be someone else's as long as credit is given after the words.

Your post can either be serious, or if you'd like comical, but never obscene .

Posts can either have one word on them, quotes, or full poems ... Your choice.

All posts are to be done on your own site in a blog form with a link back to it being left here (I've created a button link which you are welcome to use).

New topics will be posted on Sundays.

Posts can be made through Saturday.

One post per person only please.

Have fun!

---Amy

  2. I love this. And I know I've seen this on your site either here or 360. I don't remember if someone posted a link to you or I saw you on a mutual friends and wandered over to your photography. I think I remember some beautiful photos too of horses in the snow?

Oy... I'll have to get some sleep and dream on this.

  15. Finally seem to have Multiply working properly again now. Wow, Amy, I love your shot, I've heard of that phenomenon but it's very rare. How lucky were you to be in the right place at the right time!! Great quote you put with it, too. Here's mine:

  20. Great entries, everyone! Now I'm going to dare you all to actually display your entries. Maybe make your entry into your computer's wallpaper, mine is my laptop's wallpaper. Perhaps print it and put it somewhere where you'll see it frequently? I put my "If you want to learn how to swim, jump into the river" Images and Words entry on my martial arts notebook. Maybe make a print and put it in your office? By your front door where you'll see it every day? If you have a digital photo frame then put it into its memory so it's part of your display's rotation. Wherever it will inspire and motivate you :-)
